Statement as of 26th February….
South West Water, Exeter, contacted the club yesterday to inform us that the ongoing building works were over running and that the hill would not be resurfaced prior to the work being completed. It is now not anticipated to finish till later in the year.
Camel Vale Motor Club thus have no option to cancel this years Castle Hillclimb unfortunately.
Statement as of 10th February….
We wanted to let you know about Castle Hillclimb 2025 and the current situation regarding the track conditions. As many of you know, there is ongoing construction at the water treatment works at the bottom of the hill and the increased heavy traffic on the hill has unfortunately led to the deterioration of the track surface.
The hill is due to be resurfaced once the construction work is complete and while we have assurances from South West Water that it’ll happen before our event in August, there’s still a chance it could be delayed.
We are committed to running the event in 2025 and are continuing to plan and prepare for it, but we are wholly reliant on the hill being resurfaced in time. The organising committee will meet on 6th June to make a final decision, should there not be any significant progress prior to then.
Thank you for your patience and we hope to bring some positive news in early June and of course, see you at Castle in August.
