9 very hardy souls braved the rather wet and windy weather on Sunday morning at Perranporth Airfiled – the first time we have had rain in three years for these events! Luckily, the weather cleared up after lunchtime, so everyone had an opportunity to dry out themselves and their cars.
The owners of Perranporth Airfield had asked us to use a slightly different area, which had some lovely smooth tarmac, much better than the rougher area that we had been using. As usual, Nigel Barnett had come up with some interesting tests, albeit not too hard, with most of the competitors getting the tests right all the time – only managing to hit the odd cone or two.
Unfortunately, due to the small number of entries, we did have to amalgamate two classes, but despite a strong challenge from Jason Metters, Marek Wojciechowski again reaped victory taking the overall award, some 13 seconds ahead of Jason at the end of the day. Tim Naylor in his Ford Fiesta managed to snatch the lead from Mark Crowle to take the Class Win in Class B, with Mark having to accept 2nd in Class.
The next event will be on Sunday 25 August – regulations will be available in early August.
