Camel Vale promotes various motorsport within the Bodmin area ranging from British Championship Sporting Trials and Hill Climb action to true grass routes entry level sport.

Autotest / Production Car Autotest

  • What is it – Following a set course round cones in a field against the clock. Typically only first gear testing your car handling skills and finding grip on a grass surface for Camel Vale events. An autotest is for driver only, and production car autotest allows anyone over 14yrs old to compete with a passenger alongside
  • Car Requirements – Any standard road car is suitable with no preparation. Classes for four wheel drive cars too, but typically only two wheel drive hatches and MX5’s etc
  • Motorsport UK License – Free RS Clubman
  • Typical Entry Fee – £25
  • Typically six events a summer

Field Trial (Car Trial)

  • What is it – Follow a set course of paired numbered gates traversing up hill from the number 12 at the bottom to the one at the top. Once motion has stopped you score the next number. Normally 24hills a day testing the drivers skills
  • Car Requirements – Any two wheel drive road car to classic trials specials are facilitated by Camel Vale
  • Motorsport UK License – Free RS Clubman
  • Typical Entry Fee – £25
  • Typically two events a year

Sporting Car Trials

  • What is it – Follow a set course of paired numbered gates traversing up hill from the number 12 at the bottom to the one at the top. Once motion has stopped you score the next number. Normally 24hills a day testing the drivers skills
  • Car Requirements – Purpose built and designed lightweight specials for offroad use with independent rear brakes
  • Motorsport UK License – Free RS Clubman
  • Typical Entry Fee – £45
  • Typically three events a year

Classic Trial

  • What is it – Follow a defined course up and lane or track. Some sections will have stop and restarts for the more specialist vehicle classes. Sections are joined by miles on the public highway. Camel Vale run two trials a year mainly using local forests and approx. 50 road miles. The Motor Cycling Club run three over night trials dating back over 100years and upto 350miles
  • Car Requirements – Two wheel drive cars only of any age. Allowable tyres are defined and nine car classes. Motorbike are also allowed, along with sidecars
  • Motorsport UK License – FREE RS Clubman (Cars), ACU License (Bikes)
  • Typical Entry Fee – £45
  • Typically two events a year mainly in Forestry land

Speed Hill Climb / Sprint

  • What is it – Held on a sealed surface from the start line to finish against the clock with best time counting. Depending on car class the safety equipment varies, but motorsport approved helmet is the minimum.
  • Car Requirements – Classes for standard road cars through to kit cars and single seater race cars.
  • Motorsport UK License – RS Interclub (approx. £80)
  • Typical Entry Fee – £90 / day
  • Castle Hill Climb early August and Co-Host Watergate Sprint in September

Navigational Scatter

  • What is it – Plotting a number of map references, which then you visit to find clues for further locations. First sixteen locations are given at start, then further seven locations can be found from the clues at these. Each location visited scores you points towards your final total. Not timed, it’s a treasure hunt effectively.
  • Car Requirements – Any road legal car
  • Motorsport UK License – Free RS Clubman
  • Typical Entry Fee – £25
  • Typically 6 events a year on a Friday evening over the winter months
